What kind of warranty do you offer?

United States Seamless® steel siding’s endurance exceeds the most stringent industry testing standards – allowing us to back it with a limited lifetime warranty against manufactured defects, hail and fading. Our warranty may also be transferred by the original property owner to subsequent owners.*

*Please see warranty corresponding to specific collections for complete warranty duration, procedures, limitations and exclusions.

What makes seamless steel siding better than other exterior options?

Steel offers the greatest life expectancy of all exterior options and is maintenance free – so you will never have to worry about painting or staining your home again. Unlike other exterior options, United States Seamless® steel siding is guaranteed not to fade, chalk or warp.

Will replacing my siding improve the value of my home?

According to “Remodeling” magazine, on average up to 100% or more will be recovered upon the sale of a home. The United States Seamless® steel siding finish is also an ENERGY STAR PARTNER and is enhanced with Cool Paint Technology™, a technology developed for NASA’s space shuttle program that uses infrared reflective pigments in the paint to improve your home’s energy efficiency.

Does steel siding rust?

United States Seamless® steel siding has a galvanized coating applied to both sides of a solid steel core for corrosion and rust protection. Corrosion resistant galvanized steel provides additional strength and durability to our seamless steel siding.

Can I install it myself or have my contractor install it?

United States Seamless® steel siding is a custom product, it is measured to fit the exact dimensions of your home and run through one of our state of the art siding machines at each specific location. Because of the many factors that can affect installation of your siding, Western Products, Inc. employs factory trained installers to ensure your United States Seamless® steel siding is installed correctly and will give you the lasting beauty and durability you expect.

Can siding be installed in the winter?

United States Seamless® steel siding is resistant to brittleness in cold weather and all of Western Products trailers are heated, allowing us to work throughout the year.

How long does the installation process take?

The average home takes about a week and a half, however, timing may depend on the size and detail included in the job and if there are any interruptions from Mother Nature.

Can’t I just do the work myself?

Western Products employs factory trained roofing installers – they are trained to safely and efficiently repair or replace a roof. And on some products, the warranty could be void if not installed properly.

What is an Ice Dam?

Ice Dams form when warmth from inside the home melts the bottom layer of snow on the roof, sending water trickling down to the edge. Exposed to frigid air, it immediately refreezes, clogging gutters and causing the water behind it to pool up and find a path into the home below, usually through the shingles. Ice dams are more common in older or poorly insulated homes and those with low-pitch roofs. Talk to your roofing expert about insulating the attic of your home for even more protection against ice damming.

What is a roofing underlayment?

A roofing underlayment is typically a rubberized membrane that goes under shingles to prevent water penetration. It is the one piece of a roofing system that is expressly designed to be waterproof. Without a self-adhered underlayment, water from wind-driven rain or ice dams can infiltrate under your shingles and severely damage your roof—or even worse, the inside of your home.

Why is roof ventilation so important?

Good ventilation promotes proper air circulation in your attic keeping it cooler in the summer months and will dilute and remove moisture in both winter and summer. Both are factors in preventing damage to a roof deck and premature distortion and deterioration of shingles. Proper ventilation can also help to prevent ice damming in the frigid winter months by controlling the moisture.

How do I know which type of roof is right for me?

Because there are so many types of roofing to choose from, it is best to speak with a professional to discuss your options and what will be the best fit for your home. A Western Products roofing professional will be more than happy to go over the types of roofing available to you and what would be best for the architectural style and needs of your roof.

Why are more people choosing metal roofs for their homes?

Metal is a great choice for a house in snow country, as well as agricultural areas. There are many types of steel to choose from, including galvanized low-end, high-end copper, and many more options in between. There are also numerous types of metal roofing styles, ranging from “Standing Seam” method to several types of metal shingles. Metal roofing is extremely durable in extreme conditions, is long lasting (most metal roofs last for up to 50 years) and can even help to improve the energy efficiency of your home.

What is R-value?

“R” stands for resistance to heat flow. The higher the R-value, the greater the insulating power.

What will re-insulating my home do for me?

Insulation helps to keep your home cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. Re-insulating your home will reduce the heat flow, allowing your home to use less energy for heating and cooling. A well-insulated home increases the overall comfort of the home and adds to its resale value.

How can I be sure I am getting the best performance? The most important factor in getting the best performance out of your insulation is proper installation. Western Products employs factory trained installers who have been taught the proper methods of installation and will ensure you receive the best performance from your insulation.

There are so many different types of insulation products on the market, how do I know Owens Corning™ Atticat™ Blown-in Insulation is right for me?

Owens Corning and Western Products are committed to providing the best product available on the market for homeowners. In fact, every major advance in glass fiber technology has been the result of Owens Corning research and development.

What is the LEAFAWAY® Gutter Protection System?

LEAFAWAY® is a revolutionary one-piece gutter protection system covered by a debris shedding shield with an exclusive patent pending pooling design.

How Does the LEAFAWAY® Gutter Protection System Work?

Liquid adhesion and gravity draw the water into your gutter while shedding debris, like leaves, pine cones, needles and twigs that will often clog your gutters, from your roof eliminating structural damage caused by failed gutters.

Will the LEAFAWAY® Gutter Protection System affect my roof and/or shingles?

No. LEAFAWAY® gutters are securely attached to your home’s fascia board, so your roof and shingles remain unaffected.

Can I buy the LEAFAWAY® Gutter Protection System and install it myself?

Because of the unique nature of the LEAFAWAY® system it needs to be installed on-site by professional installation crews.

What is Ice Damming? (Can we change this to something like “Will new gutters prevent ice dams?)

Ice damming happens when the heat from the house escapes through the roof and melts the snow on the roof. When the water runs down to the overhanging eaves there is no more heat from the house (because of the overhang) and it freezes. The ice builds up until eventually it creates a dam that holds the water back. In extreme circumstances there is enough water that it works its way under the shingles and leaks through the eaves, or worse, into the house!
